The Raiders offense is about to look a little different.

Brock Bowers is out, but Ashton Jeanty is back. And while losing one of the best weapons on the roster is never good news, Jeanty’s return could give the Raiders exactly what they need to keep the offense moving.

In this episode of Raiders Personnel, we break down what Bowers’ absence means for the offense, why Jeanty’s return matters so much, and which players now have an opportunity to step up.

Brock Bowers Is Out

Bowers will be unavailable as the Raiders move forward without one of their biggest offensive weapons.

That immediately changes how the offense can attack defenses.

Bowers isn’t just another tight end. His ability to create mismatches, pick up yards after the catch, and give the quarterback a reliable target makes him difficult to replace with one player.

Instead, the Raiders may need several players to make up for what they’re losing.

One name we’re watching closely is Michael Mayer.

With Bowers unavailable, Mayer has an opportunity to take on a larger role and show what he can bring to the Raiders offense.

Ashton Jeanty’s Return Could Be Huge

The good news?

Ashton Jeanty is returning.

Getting Jeanty back gives the Raiders another offensive weapon at a time when they desperately need one.

More importantly, his return could allow the Raiders to lean more heavily on the running game.

A productive rushing attack can take pressure off the quarterback, create more manageable third downs and potentially open up opportunities through play action.

With Bowers missing, establishing the run becomes even more important.

Can the Raiders Adjust?

That’s the bigger question we discuss in this episode.

The Raiders aren’t going to replace Brock Bowers by asking one player to become Brock Bowers.

The offense has to adjust.

That could mean:

  • A bigger role for Michael Mayer
  • More emphasis on Ashton Jeanty and the running game
  • Other receivers getting additional opportunities
  • Finding different ways to create manageable situations for the offense

This stretch could tell us quite a bit about the Raiders’ offensive depth.
